BYD has officially unveiled the Atto 3 Evo, a significantly upgraded iteration of the electric SUV that played a pivotal role in establishing the brand across numerous global marketss. Bookings for the new model are now open, with first customer deliveries scheduled to commence in Q2 2026.
The Atto 3 Evo is built on BYD’s advanced e-Platform 3.0, now enhanced with an 800V electrical architecture. This major technical evolution brings notable improvements in both performance and charging capability. Despite the comprehensive mechanical upgrades, the model retains the familiar proportions and overall design language that contributed to the strong appeal of the original Atto 3.
Dimensionally, the SUV measures 4,455 mm in length, 1,875 mm in width, and 1,615 mm in height, with a 2,720 mm wheelbase, positioning it firmly within the compact electric SUV segment. In Europe, the Atto 3 Evo is available in two variants, each offering distinct drivetrain configurations.
The Design variant adopts a rear-wheel-drive layout powered by a single permanent magnet synchronous motor delivering 313 PS (230 kW) and 380 Nm of torque. This setup enables a 0–100 km/h acceleration time of 5.5 seconds, a top speed of 180 km/h, and a WLTP-rated driving range of up to 510 km.
Stepping up, the Excellence variant introduces an all-wheel-drive configuration through the addition of a front-mounted electric motor. Combined output increases to 449 PS (330 kW) and 560 Nm, allowing the SUV to complete the 0–100 km/h sprint in just 3.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 200 km/h. Even with its performance-focused setup, the AWD version maintains a WLTP range of 470 km.
Both variants are equipped with the same 74.8 kWh LFP BYD Blade Battery, underscoring BYD’s continued use of its in-house battery technology.
Charging performance is another key highlight. DC fast charging is supported at up to 220 kW, enabling a 10–80% charge in approximately 25 minutes. For everyday use, 11 kW AC charging allows a full charge to be completed in around eight hours, offering convenient overnight replenishment.
Practicality has also seen meaningful gains. Thanks to a revised vehicle layout, the Atto 3 Evo now features a front trunk (frunk) for the first time. At the rear, boot capacity stands at 490 litres, expanding to 1,360 litres with the rear seats folded, providing added versatility for daily and long-distance use.
Inside the cabin, the gear selector has been relocated to the steering column, freeing up space around the centre console. This change contributes to a cleaner, more open interior environment while improving usability.
With increased power, faster charging capabilities, and enhanced practicality, the BYD Atto 3 Evo represents a substantial advancement over its predecessor. Attention now turns to regional markets, where anticipation is growing around the model’s potential introduction in right-hand-drive form. In Malaysia, BYD’s strong local momentum makes the Atto 3 Evo a natural candidate for future introduction as the next step in the brand’s expanding electric vehicle lineup.
