Mercedes-Benz unveiled an all-electric version of its GLB compact SUV, adding a seven-seat option and a driving range of up to 392 miles as the German automaker expands its battery-powered lineup ahead of a major 2026 rollout. The electric GLB features a 60 mm longer wheelbase, increasing cabin space and improving legroom across all rows. Mercedes says the third row can seat adults of average height, a rarity in the compact EV segment. The model also introduces additional storage, including a front trunk designed for daily-use items.
The vehicle is powered by an 85 kWh battery paired with an 800-volt electrical system. The base GLB 250+ delivers the model’s longest range, while a dual-motor 350 4MATIC variant offers all-wheel drive and higher performance at a slight cost to efficiency.
Fast-charging capability is a central feature. The SUV supports DC charging at up to 320 kW, allowing the battery to add an estimated 162 miles of range in about 10 minutes on compatible chargers. AC charging of up to 22 kW is available for customers with three-phase home or commercial setups.
Inside, Mercedes has overhauled the cockpit with its latest interface technologies. Buyers can opt for the “Superscreen,” which integrates a digital driver display with central and passenger touchscreens behind a single glass panel. The system runs on the company’s new MB.OS software platform, incorporating AI-driven assistance and upgraded navigation tools. Despite its emphasis on digital functions, Mercedes has retained several physical controls, including a volume dial and buttons for driver-assistance settings. The company said customer feedback influenced the decision to keep tactile inputs for frequently used features.
Seven-seat electric SUVs remain limited, particularly among compact models with long-range capability. Mercedes said the electric GLB targets families and commuters looking for a versatile EV positioned below its larger EQS and EQE SUVs.
Pricing and detailed specifications will be announced closer to the model’s 2026 market launch. Mercedes expects the GLB to play a key role in its strategy to broaden its electric portfolio and compete in one of the fastest-growing segments of the global automotive market.
