Grab Vietnam has entered a strategic partnership with Charge+, one of Southeast Asia’s leading electric vehicle (EV) charging solution providers, in a landmark move aimed at advancing Vietnam’s EV infrastructure. The collaboration focuses on developing a robust network of charging and battery-swapping stations, delivering greater convenience and reliability for Grab driver-partners and EV users nationwide.
Under this agreement, both companies will work together to deploy flexible charging solutions catering to electric cars, motorcycles, and e-scooters. The initiative underscores a shared commitment to promoting green mobility and supporting Vietnam’s long-term Net Zero aspirations.
According to Ma Tuan Trong, CEO of Grab Vietnam, “Grab fully supports Vietnam’s green transition directives and is continuously stepping up collaboration with relevant partners to address the challenges of this transition.
We are delighted to further expand our partner portfolio in the EV ecosystem through this agreement with Charge+. With Charge+’s experience in developing charging systems across Southeast Asia , combined with Grab’s advantages in technology, user insights, and local market demand, we believe this collaboration will contribute to solving the charging station equation in Vietnam.
This is our way of joining hands to create a sustainable EV ecosystem that effectively supports both Grab driver-partners and the broader community."
The partnership leverages Charge+’s regional expertise and ambitions. The company aims to establish 5,000 charging points in Vietnam by 2030, enhancing accessibility for both Grab driver-partners and the wider EV community.
According to Goh Chee Kiong, CEO of Charge+, “Charge+ is pleased to partner Grab, one of the most proactive companies in supporting the green transition in Vietnam, to enable a smoother and more sustainable experience for consumers.
As a leading EV charging company serving Southeast Asia, Charge+ is strongly committed to rolling out an extensive charging network in Vietnam to reach 5,000 charging points by 2030, to serve both Grab -driver-partners and other EV drivers at large. Our partnership with Grab brings together two like-minded companies in the pursuit of making electric vehicles the convenient choice for the Vietnamese".
Beyond infrastructure rollouts, the collaboration will feature deep technical integration, including API connectivity to link Charge+’s charging and battery-swapping system with the Grab platform. This integration ensures real-time access to charging station locations, availability, and transaction capabilities helping driver-partners operate more efficiently.
Grab Vietnam will also deploy its data analytics and market insights to identify optimal charging locations, ensuring the network is dense, accessible, and tailored to real-world usage patterns. Special preferential charging rates will be introduced exclusively for Grab driver-partners as part of the initiative.
Reflecting the practical demands on ground, Grab driver-partner Ho Vinh Thanh noted: “Due to the specific nature of our work, the charging needs of ride-hailing drivers are often different from those of EV users for personal purposes. We require a charging network that is extensive and dense enough for us to access it anytime, and the charging speed must be fast. This way, we can maximize our time on the road and secure our daily earnings".
With this strategic alliance, Grab and Charge+ are set to play a pivotal role in advancing Vietnam’s transition to clean mobility establishing a scalable, tech-driven infrastructure that supports both environmental goals and the evolving needs of the nation’s rapidly expanding EV community.
