Hyundai has officially introduced the all-new Staria Electric, marking a major step forward for the brand’s popular multi-purpose vehicle as it transitions into the fully electric era. Designed to deliver zero-emission mobility without compromising on space, comfort or versatility, the Staria Electric targets families, leisure users and commercial shuttle operators seeking a practical yet future-ready EV.
Staying true to the distinctive Staria silhouette, the electric version retains the model’s familiar proportions while incorporating subtle EV-specific design updates. A closed front fascia gives the MPV a cleaner, more modern appearance, reinforcing its electric identity while maintaining the aerodynamic, futuristic look that has defined the Staria range.
Powering the Staria Electric is an 84 kWh battery paired with a front-wheel-drive electric motor producing 160 kW (218 hp) and 350 Nm of torque. Hyundai estimates a WLTP driving range of up to 400 km, positioning the Staria Electric among the longer-range electric MPVs currently available. This makes it suitable not only for daily urban duties but also for longer family trips or continuous shuttle operations.
One of the standout technical highlights is the inclusion of an 800-volt electrical architecture, a feature typically reserved for Hyundai’s IONIQ EV lineup. This advanced system enables ultra-fast DC charging, allowing the battery to be charged from 10 to 80 percent in approximately 20 minutes, significantly reducing downtime and enhancing usability on longer journeys.
Unlike Hyundai’s dedicated electric models built on the E-GMP platform, the Staria Electric is based on the brand’s existing N3 multi-energy platform. This approach allows Hyundai to preserve the vehicle’s generous interior dimensions, flat floor and flexible cabin layout, key attributes that have made the Staria popular across both private and commercial use cases.
On the road, the electric drivetrain delivers smooth and quiet performance, contributing to a relaxed driving experience for both drivers and passengers. Revised suspension tuning and additional sound insulation further enhance ride comfort, even when the vehicle is fully loaded, reinforcing its role as a refined people mover.
Hyundai’s ‘Inside-Out’ design philosophy continues to shape the Staria Electric’s cabin. The long body, low beltline and expansive glass areas maximise interior space while improving outward visibility. Inside, the MPV offers a bright, lounge-like environment with a high roofline and flat floor, making movement within the cabin easy and comfortable.
Flexibility remains a core strength of the Staria Electric. The interior can be easily adapted for family use, passenger transport or leisure activities. Wide sliding doors and a large tailgate improve everyday accessibility, whether loading passengers, luggage or equipment.
Technology is another key focus area. The Staria Electric comes equipped with dual 12.3-inch digital displays, Hyundai’s latest infotainment system with over-the-air update capability, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Digital Key functionality and high-power USB ports throughout the cabin. Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability further expands usability, allowing the MPV to power external devices for work, travel or outdoor activities.
Safety is handled by Hyundai SmartSense advanced driver assistance systems, offering a comprehensive suite that includes forward collision avoidance assist, lane keeping and lane following assist, highway driving assist, blind-spot monitoring and a surround-view camera system to support confident and stress-free driving in everyday conditions.
At launch, the Staria Electric will be available in a seven-seat Luxury variant, as well as a nine-seat configuration aimed at larger families and professional shuttle operators. Production is set to begin at Hyundai’s Ulsan facility in South Korea, with sales scheduled to commence in Korea and Europe in the first half of 2026.
With the introduction of the Staria Electric, Hyundai is expanding electric mobility into a segment where practicality and comfort are paramount, offering a compelling zero-emission solution for users who need space, flexibility and long-distance capability without compromise.
