Mercedes-Benz has just taken the wraps off the third-generation CLA Shooting Brake, bringing with it a sleek new design and, for the first time, two fully electric variants. Following closely after the debut of its CLA saloonTwin, the all-new Shooting Brake blends familiar aesthetics with bold innovations aimed at the EV-savvy premium market.
At first glance, the new CLA Shooting Brake shares its front-end styling with the saloon, a signature look featuring streamlined LED headlights, a dramatic full-width DRL bar, and a refined bumper design. But what truly sets the electric versions apart is the grille treatment. The EV models feature a closed-off faux grille adorned with Mercedes' three-pointed star motif, creating a futuristic and distinct presence, while the ICE variant retains a more traditional open grille with star-studded inserts and a prominent central emblem.
From the B-pillars back, the Shooting Brake stretches into a more dynamic silhouette. It’s not just about aesthetics; the estate version has grown in all key dimensions, gaining 35 mm in length, 25 mm in width, and 27 mm in height, alongside a 61 mm longer wheelbase compared to its predecessor. These updates result in not just a more spacious feel, but also an additional 26 mm of rear headroom. The practicality factor rises with cargo space extending up to 1,290 litres with the rear seats folded, making this a luxurious yet highly functional estate.
Inside, the CLA Shooting Brake mirrors the tech-forward cabin of its saloon counterpart. The new MBUX Superscreen setup dominates the dashboard, merging three displays into one seamless visual experience and eliminating most traditional physical controls. Complementing the modern tech is a full-length panoramic glass roof made from heat-insulating safety glass, decorated with 158 backlit stars that align with the ambient lighting theme. Depending on the trim level, buyers can expect top-tier comfort features such as a leather-wrapped steering wheel, powered and heated front seats, multi-zone climate control, customizable ambient lighting, and optional wood or leather trims that elevate the cabin’s appeal.
Perhaps the most exciting addition is the introduction of two new electric variants: the CLA 250+ Shooting Brake with EQ Technology and the CLA 350 4MATIC Shooting Brake with EQ Technology. The CLA 250+ is powered by a single electric motor delivering 268 hp and 335 Nm of torque, capable of a 0–100 km/h sprint in just 6.8 seconds. On the other hand, the CLA 350 4MATIC gets a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup that produces 349 hp and 515 Nm, shaving the century sprint down to just 5 seconds. Both versions top out at 210 km/h and come equipped with a unique two-speed gearbox, offering better efficiency and flexibility at higher speeds.
Underpinning both EVs is an 85 kWh NMC battery supported by 800-volt architecture. This not only allows for impressive WLTP ranges up to 761 km for the CLA 250+ and 730 km for the CLA 350 but also enables ultra-fast charging. Thanks to its 320 kW DC fast-charging capability, drivers can gain up to 310 km of range in just 10 minutes, placing the CLA Shooting Brake EVs among the most competitive in their class.
While the two electric versions have been confirmed for the European market, Mercedes-Benz has also announced that a 48-volt mild hybrid (MHEV) internal combustion engine variant will be introduced in 2026. Pricing remains under wraps for now, but European showrooms are expected to welcome the new CLA Shooting Brake by the end of this year.
With this launch, Mercedes-Benz is not only expanding its CLA lineup but also reinforcing its commitment to the future of luxury EVs blending practicality, innovation, and unmistakable design in one compelling package.
