Lexus has officially unveiled the refreshed 2026 Lexus RZ electric SUV for the Japanese market, introducing meaningful upgrades in performance, efficiency, and driving engagement across the lineup. Headlining the update is the new, performance-oriented RZ600e F Sport, accompanied by enhancements to existing variants including the RZ350e Version L, RZ500e Version L, and RZ550e F Sport. The updates underscore Lexus’ continued commitment to refining its dedicated EV portfolio, focusing not only on driving range and power delivery but also on driver involvement and advanced vehicle technology.
One of the most notable upgrades across the refreshed RZ range is improved power and energy efficiency. Lexus has also introduced a revised charging system, though specific technical details have not yet been disclosed. These improvements translate into significantly enhanced driving range figures, now spanning between 579 km and an impressive 733 km, depending on the variant. As before, Lexus continues to offer both single-motor (front-wheel drive) and dual-motor (all-wheel drive) configurations. Battery options remain unchanged from the outgoing model, with customers able to choose between 75 kWh and 77 kWh battery packs, balancing performance and range according to their needs.
Visually, the F Sport variants retain their distinctive identity, featuring more aggressive styling elements that set them apart from the standard Version L models. These include sportier exterior accents and a more dynamic overall stance. A standout feature is the continued use of Lexus’ yoke-style steering wheel, paired with the brand’s innovative steer-by-wire system. First detailed on the RZ600e F Sport, this system eliminates mechanical steering connections, delivering faster response and a unique, futuristic driving experience that Lexus claims enhances precision and control.
For buyers seeking a more engaging drive, Lexus Japan is offering an optional “Performance Upgrade Boost + Interactive Manual Drive” package, priced at ¥220,000 (approximately RM5,702). This package delivers increased power output and introduces a simulated manual shifting experience, inspired by systems used in the Lexus RX600e F Sport. According to Lexus, this feature is designed to provide a more involved and emotionally engaging driving feel, bridging the gap between traditional performance vehicles and modern electric mobility.
In Japan, the refreshed Lexus RZ lineup is priced from ¥7,900,000 (around RM204,741) for the base RZ350e Version L. At the top of the range, the fully loaded RZ550e F Sport commands ¥9,500,000 (approximately RM246,207). While Lexus has yet to confirm availability outside Japan, international rollout is widely expected, potentially later in 2026.
Closer to home, Lexus Malaysia currently lists only the RZ450e Luxury on its official website, priced at RM429,888. However, industry observers expect this model to be delisted in the near future as Malaysia’s government prepares to phase out tax incentives for fully imported (CBU) electric vehicles in the coming year. With the refreshed RZ offering substantial improvements in range, performance, and technology, its eventual arrival in Southeast Asian markets could play a crucial role in strengthening Lexus’ position in the premium EV SUV segment provided pricing and incentives remain competitive.
