Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Xpeng has officially launched the highly anticipated G7 EREV in its home market, marking a significant milestone in the evolution of range-extended electric vehicles. Touted as the world’s longest-ranged SUV, the new Xpeng G7 EREV delivers a remarkable combined driving range of up to 1,704 km, reinforcing the brand’s ambitions to lead the next phase of intelligent and electrified mobility.
The G7 EREV arrives shortly after its initial unveiling earlier this month and is launched alongside the 2026 model year update of its fully electric (BEV) counterpart. While the new EREV variant introduces a different powertrain philosophy, it retains the same midsize SUV proportions, design language, and premium positioning as the BEV version. Visually, the Xpeng G7 EREV closely mirrors the outgoing G7, adopting the brand’s latest design cues. At the front, it features Xpeng’s distinctive “X Face” fascia, highlighted by a full-width LED daytime running light strip. The clean, aerodynamic profile is further enhanced by flush door handles, while the rear is defined by sharp-edged, full-width LED taillights that lend the SUV a modern and high-tech appearance.
In terms of dimensions, the G7 EREV is positioned above the Xpeng G6 in the company’s lineup. It measures 4,918 mm in length, 1,925 mm in width, and 1,655 mm in height, riding on a wheelbase of 2,890 mm. These proportions place it firmly in the midsize SUV segment, offering a strong balance between road presence, interior space, and maneuverability.
Inside, the G7 EREV carries over the same cabin layout as its BEV sibling, with a strong emphasis on digitalisation, comfort, and advanced in-car technology. Dominating the dashboard is a 15.6-inch central infotainment touchscreen, complemented by a 9-inch digital rearview mirror and a massive 87-inch augmented reality head-up display (AR-HUD).
Passenger comfort and convenience are central to the G7 EREV’s appeal. The SUV is equipped with dual 50-watt wireless charging pads, ventilated front seats with massage functionality, and a zero-gravity mode for the front passenger seat. Audio duties are handled by a premium 20-speaker sound system, while practicality is addressed through a generous boot capacity of 779 litres, making it well-suited for long-distance travel and family use.
Under the skin, the Xpeng G7 EREV adopts a sophisticated range-extender setup designed to eliminate range anxiety without compromising electric driving performance. The system is centred around a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, which functions primarily as a generator to recharge the battery rather than directly driving the wheels.
Energy is stored in a substantial 55.8 kWh battery pack, enabling up to 400 km of pure electric driving range. Propulsion is handled by a rear-mounted electric motor producing 292 hp (218 kW), ensuring smooth and responsive performance consistent with Xpeng’s EV portfolio.
When combined with the 60-litre fuel tank, the G7 EREV achieves a claimed total driving range of up to 1,704 km, a figure that positions it as the longest-ranged SUV currently available on the global market. To enhance ride comfort during extended journeys, Xpeng has equipped the G7 EREV with a CDC (Continuous Damping Control) suspension system, which adapts in real time to road conditions.
Beyond range and comfort, the G7 EREV also represents a major step forward in intelligent driving technology. The SUV can be specified with up to three Xpeng-developed Turing AI chips, delivering a combined computing power of 2,250 TOPS. This formidable processing capability underpins Xpeng’s new Ultra ADAS suite.
With this system, the G7 EREV supports both urban and highway Navigation-on-Autopilot (NoA) functions, enabling advanced assisted driving in complex real-world scenarios. These features reflect Xpeng’s broader strategy to integrate artificial intelligence and autonomy as core pillars of its future vehicle lineup.
The all-new Xpeng G7 EREV is now available for purchase in China, with prices starting at CNY 195,800 for the Max Tech variant. The range-topping Max Flagship model is priced at CNY 205,800. The debut of the G7 EREV coincides with the launch of the updated 2026 Xpeng P7+, highlighting an active product rollout phase for the brand.
Looking beyond the domestic market, Xpeng has confirmed that the global version of the G7 EREV will make its European debut shortly, signalling the company’s intent to expand the reach of its range-extended technology to international customers.
With its class-leading range, advanced electric-first powertrain, and cutting-edge intelligent driving systems, the Xpeng G7 EREV represents a compelling new chapter in the evolution of electrified SUVs and underscores Xpeng’s growing influence in the global EV landscape.
